The Cotes du Rhone from the owner of Domaine de la Vieille Julienne (John-Paul Daumen) is made in the same winery and with the same attention to detail as the main wines. It began in 2010, Jean-Paul began a project under his 'Daumen' label. These are wines made partly from vineyards that he owns and partly from vineyards own by friends. However, Jean-Paul works the vineyards as if they were his own, and the vineyards are farmed organically or biodynamically.
Origin of the grapes : Lieux-dits Sainte Cardille, Maucoil and la Bertaude at Orange from vines in conversion to organic farming.
Vinification : balance being established in the vineyard without chemical contribution, the grapes are vinified without any external product and exclusively with our indigenous yeast. Temperature is controled during fermentation, over-extraction is not required to preserve the fruit.
Aging and bottling: after one year maturing (half in cement tank and half in large foudre of 50hl), the wine will be bottled without fining or filtration, after a single sulfiting.
