This elegant and perfumed wine has a concentrated nose of blackcurrant, black cherry, fynbos, spice and cigar-box. The palate is layered and complex, with dark fruits, cacao, tobacco and a clear graphite character. The tannins are juicy and firm, and the finish is lasting. This wine is made from a single vineyard planted in 1994 on granitic soils, and only in extraordinary vintages. It was aged for 20 months in French barrels. Drink now or keep and enjoy for 10+ years.
