For our first supper club of 2024 we are delighted to present Ridge Vineyards and their excellent Californian wines. Partnering with Canto 73, we shall bringing you an evening of gastronomy and indulgence.

Ridge Vineyards traces its history back to 1885 when Osea Perrone planted vines on Monte Bello Ridge to the east of San Jose in California. The quality of the terroir saw the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon rise to high acclaim by the 1960s. Success supported the selection of further vineyard sites, with Zinfandel showing a particular penchant for the new terroirs. Syrah, Grenache, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Chardonnay have discerningly been grown only in sites where they excel.

 

Ridge relies relentlessly on nature and tradition rather than technology. Their pre-industrial approach is straightforward: find intense, flavourful grapes; intrude upon the process only when necessary and draw the fruit’s distinctive character and richness into the wine.

 

We are delighted to have Katie Blakely joining us all the way from California to tell us more about the estate and guide us in a tasting through their fantastic wines.

 

Locally renowned chefs, João Ferreira Pinto and Molly Humphreys of Canto 73 fame, have devised a sensational menu for our delectation. They will serve up five courses, one to go with each wine:

  • Leeks all the way - leeks with a leek foam, leek ash and leek oil

  • Rosemary honey roasted delica pumpkins, cashew and mushroom purée and toasted pumpkin seeds

  • Herb crusted lamb, truffle potato and grilled mushroom

  • Quince sorbet with Parmesan crisp

  • Cheesewith home-made crackers 
  • Chocolate cakewith fava tonka creme fraiche 

 

Please specify any allergies or dietary requirements at the time of booking as we won't be able to respond to special requests on the night.

  • Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2019  -  £62

 

There will be the opportunity to purchase wines on the night at a special discounted rate for delivery at a later date.

 

Booking terms and conditions:

  • You will be entitled to a refund if you notify cancellation at least 7 full days before the event.

 

  • No refund will be given if you cancel less than 7 full days before the event or do not attend the event on the day.

 

  • You can transfer your booking to someone else, but please be sure to let us know by email at least 24 hours before the event.

 

  • We may cancel or reschedule the event for any reason. We will email you and offer a full refund or a transfer.

 

  • Dietary requirements should ideally be specified at the time of booking and in any case must be specified at least 7 days before the event. After this we cannot guarantee to be able to accommodate specific dietary requirements.
