Rudolf Fürst Pur Mineral Riesling Franken 2018
Description
In the westernmost corner of the Franconian wine region, framed by the low mountain ranges of Spessart and Odenwald, unique conditions have been created by time and weather. Here the Fürst Family have been making wine since 1638. The Pinots and Riesling especially love the warm and iron-rich soils formed by the weathering of red sandstone. The quality and structure of the wines are ensured by minimal intervention in the vineyards, reduced yields, gentle vinification and long barrel ageing. White wines are pressed gently, fermented and aged in both barrels and stainless steel tanks for 6 - 12 months.
"Delicously smoky aroma. Herbal, tangy, complex, more herbal than fruity. Tastes bone dry and finishes with mouth-watering purity. Not fruity but no lack of fruit. 16.5/20 points. Drink 2019 – 2023." (Julia Harding MW, www.jancisrobinson.com, 7 May 2019)
