Dominio de Tares Bembibre Mencía Bierzo 2015
Description
On the palate, Bembibre is balanced and intense, full-bodied with a charred oak character. A dry start, velvety alcohol and acidity, very rounded tannins and commanding flavours of ripe wild berries, prune and toasted bread.
"Very old vines at 650m. Aged in French oak barrels for 15 months. Unnecessarily heavy bottle. Blackish purplish crimson. Sweet, rich, macerated brambles on the nose. Sweet and round - not unlike a very fine Pomerol in texture (sorry to compare to a French wine!) but with the energy of Mencía and the 'minerality' of a fine Bierzo. Clearly a good vineyard and good selection. Not a silly price. Long and sumptuous. Drink 2019 - 2029.
17.5 points."
