Description

A red vinho verde. Served chilled, it is redolent of summers spent sitting on terraces in Lisbon and Portugal's seaside towns. It's 100% Vinhão (also known as Sousao) is a rustic wine with an intense colour and delicious flavours of forest fruits. This is a traditional style wine that has been modernised and is now famous for its culinary versatility, however, it remains hard to come by in the UK!

The grape Vinhao makes the darkest wine in Portugal (also called Sousão in the south) and it is considered a landmark wine in the Vinho Verde region. Drink it chilled as a light summer red or slightly below room temperature with BBQ meats!

With silky smooth tannins likened to Burgundian pinot, this easy-going, chill-able red starts with opulent violets on the nose, progressing into blackberries and unripe plum. A red with a slightly higher acidity that keeps the wine fresh. Working well to cut through fatty foods.

A popular wine in northern Portugal where it matches very well with fatty meats especially roasted, BBQ or grilled.
