The wine, crafted in Bulgaria's Thracian Valley, is a blend of 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Rubin. The latter is an indigenous Bulgarian grape variety, created back in 1946 by crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah.
Yuliyan Yamantiev, a structural engineer, fell in love with the place and the winery in 1996 while doing construction work in Ivaylovgrad. He was stunned by the unspoiled beauty in the heart of Thracian Valley, an area kept closed during the socialism for being a stone throw from the Greek border. Yamantievs family planted 70 ha of own vineyards with both local and international grape varieties. After a decade of hard work Yamantiev wines found acclaim at home and abroad.
Ruby coloured with soft crimson nuances. Intense nose of ripe blackcurants, plums and cherries, underpinned by freshness. The palate is smooth and harmonious with soft long finish.
