This is made from 100% Mavrud grown in Rumelia’s own old vineyard near the historic town of Panagyurisht in Bulgaria's Thracian Valley.
Rumelia Wine Cellar was established in 2006 in the town of Panagyurishte. This was preceded by the planting of two vineyards of 54 ha in total located 20 km away from Panagyurishte, in the village of Smilets. The choice of this location was made after a number of studies of the soils, terrain exposure and weather conditions.
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates, pressed and then fermented at low temperature in small inox tanks, no oak ageing. Complex, balanced on the nose, subtle and bursting with black forest fruits.
The palate is in a modern style of Mavrud, giving great flavour concentration, lots of black cherries, forest fruits and liquorice notes, perfect acidity and prominent ripe tannins with a long finish.
