Description

'Number Two Branco' is a field blend from vineyards over 90 years old planted with Rabigato, Codega, Donzelinho Branco, Boal and Côdega do Larinho and aged for 10 months in used French barriques.

"Deliciously tangy and textural. The 90-year-old plus, field blend vineyards bring intensity and layer. Fleshy apricot, with soft, nutty, creamy oak. Savoury (touch cheesy) lees and a lick of raw honeycomb flesh out a backbone of grapefruit acidity – the driver. Long and flavoursome, with judicious flinty, smoky reduction and a saline-edged finish, it's aged in used French oak barriques. Super smart wine; super smart buy. Drink to 2025. 94 points." Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel

In 2020 Boekenhoutskloof ’s Marc, alongside Rita Marques, founded Companhia de Vinhos Invencível, acquiring an estate in the Douro and bringing traditional Portuguese grape varieties to the fore. They produce wines with vigor, passion and precision. The labels for the wine represent the fight between Adamastor, a mythical character symbolising the dangers of the sea, and the Portuguese sailors of the Age of Discovery.

Douro Valley

The Douro Valley, located in northern Portugal, is a historic and renowned wine region known for its exceptional Port and table wines. Recognised as one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, it was officially regulated in 1756. The valley's dramatic landscape, characterised by steep terraced vineyards along the Douro River, creates a unique terroir that is ideal for viticulture.
The area is particularly famous for its Port wines, which range from rich and robust Vintage Ports to smooth and sweet Tawny Ports, crafted from indigenous grapes like Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. It also produces high-quality red and white table wines, with rich, full-bodied reds and aromatic whites from local varieties such as Touriga Franca and Viosinho. The combination of historical winemaking traditions and modern practices makes the Douro Valley a compelling and storied wine region.
