Description

On the nose, this wine boasts hints of black and red fruit, in particularly blackberries and raspberries.
Spicy notes appear followed by vanilla and liquorish, which give rise to a serious, complex wine with nuances that evolve over time in both glass and bottle.

Round sumptous tannin bursts with potential for cellaring.  A silky, clean wine with hints of fresh varietals that reappear under the tongue after the first few seconds in the glass, interwined with the impeccable smokiness of american wood.  Pleasurable sensations envelope the palate with every sip.  The finish if fruity, fresh and intense.  Flavours of liquorice, blackberries and spicy linger long in the memory.

Alejandro Fernadez Tinto Pesquera

A true benchmark for all Ribera del Duero wines, Pesquera was founded in 1972 by Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera. Throughout his lifetime Fernández (affectionately known in the wine world as The King of Tempranillo), brought this region to the forefront of wine excellence, with Robert Parker regarding Tinto Pesquera as one of the world’s greatest wines. The Fernández Rivera Family oversee four wineries - two in Ribera del Duero, one in Castilla y León and another in La Mancha.

Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero is a prestigious wine region located in northern Spain, renowned for its exceptional red wines, primarily made from the Tempranillo grape, locally known as Tinta del País or Tinto Fino. The region spans the upper valley of the Duero River and benefits from a continental climate with hot, dry summers and harsh winters, which contribute to the unique character of its wines. The combination of high altitude, limestone-rich soils, and significant temperature variations between day and night enhances the concentration and complexity of the grapes. Ribera del Duero is home to some of Spain’s most celebrated wineries, including Vega Sicilia and Dominio de Pingus, which produce bold, full-bodied wines with rich flavours of dark fruit, spices, and a distinct earthy quality. Established as a Denomination of Origin (DO) in 1982, the region has quickly become synonymous with high-quality, age-worthy wines that compete on the world stage.
