Description

"The same marriage of austerity and elegance emerges in the Steingrubenberg. Citrus, floral and a touch of dried spice. Juicy mid palate with quiet depths and a firm structured hand. Subtle, stony finish. Drink to 2027.

17 points."

Weingut Salwey

This family-owned winery is located in the heart of Kaiserstuhl, an extinguished volcanic belt and the sunniest region in Germany. The family viticultural roots reach back to the 18th century, it is currently operating in its third generation under the Salwey name. Today, remnants of the region’s past like different lava, magma, volcanic stones and loess create a unique soil mineralization and terroir composition. This gives each wine its very own character.

Baden

Baden, the southernmost wine region in Germany, is renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. Benefiting from a warm climate, similar to that of Alsace just across the border, Baden is ideal for viticulture. It is particularly celebrated for its Pinot varieties, including Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), which is known for its rich, full-bodied flavours and elegance. Baden also excels in producing Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), which are appreciated for their aromatic profiles and balance. Additionally, the area produces excellent Riesling and Müller-Thurgau. The varied soils, from volcanic to loess, contribute to the unique character of Baden wines. With its blend of traditional winemaking and innovation, Baden offers a diverse and delightful wine experience for enthusiasts seeking top-quality German wines.
