Description

This wine blend is sourced from two vineyards that are 60 years old and grow Grolleau Noir and Cabernet Franc grapes on clay-limestone soil with an exposed terroir to the East. The wine is made by direct pressing of whole harvested grapes, followed by fermentation using indigenous yeasts. It is then aged for 18 months on fermentation lees in 228-litre oak barrels and bottled without filtration.

Grange Saint-Sauveur

Alice and Antoine Pouponneau cultivate 6.5 hectares of old vines biodynamically in Le Thoureil, between Angers and Saumur. Alice, rooted in Burgundy, returned to viticulture in 2017 after a social work career. Antoine, with a background as cellar master in Bandol and a microbiology expert specializing in native yeast fermentation, has consulted for top estates like Château Latour and Cheval Blanc. Together, they craft authentic, character-driven wines.

Loire Valley

The Loire Valley in France is a prestigious wine region renowned for its diverse wines and picturesque landscapes. Stretching along the Loire River, it benefits from a varied climate and a range of soil types, ideal for viticulture. It is particularly famous for its white wines, including the crisp and mineral-rich Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, and the aromatic Chenin Blanc from Vouvray and Saumur. The area also produces excellent reds, such as the light and fruity Cabernet Franc from Chinon and Bourgueil. Rosé and sparkling wines, like Crémant de Loire, add to the diversity of the region. With its rich winemaking heritage, varied terroirs, and high-quality wines, the Loire Valley offers an exceptional experience for wine enthusiasts seeking both classic and innovative wines.
