Description

Medium cherry red in colour. Aromas of blackcurrant, blue fruits and perfume lead the way. With time in the glass, Black Forest gateau, florals, spice and earthy notes emerge.

Medium to full bodied on the palate. Concentrated dark and blue fruits juxtapose with restrained fine grained tannins. The long finish follows with generosity; acidity, fruit and tannin all in harmony.

The aromatic nature of Cabernet Franc has shaped Pikes' approach to embrace the spice and perfumed characteristics of the wine. They use spontaneous fermentation and gentle cap management using compressed air to protect these qualities.

Winemaker's note:
"This release of the "Rising Ground" is one of our best yet, and really shows 'Cab Franc' as a worthy variety in its own right. Drink upon release or within the next 6 years. Try with Moroccan spiced roast lamb."
