Perfumed and silky rather than heavy, with wild strawberry, raspberry, rose petal and a peppery, herbal lift, then fine tannins and real length. Old-vine Grenache from the Piedlong plateau, the highest point in the appellation, with around 10 per cent Mourvedre grown on the sandy soils at Pignan. A generous proportion of whole bunches goes into the ferment and the wine is raised largely in concrete and older wood, so the oak stays well in the background.
