Whitcraft

Drake Whitcraft crafts beautifully balanced, site-specific wines in his low-fi Santa Barbara winery. Sourcing grapes from top sites like Pence, La Rinconada, and Stolpman, Drake takes a hands-on, low-intervention approach, calling himself a wine shepherd rather than a winemaker. Raised in California's rich food and wine culture, he learned from his father, Chris, who founded Whitcraft Winery in 1985, and family friend Burt Williams of Williams-Selyem. Taking over in 2007, Drake focused on cooler, organically farmed vineyards and introduced biodynamic practices. His whole-bunch fermented wines are clean, balanced, and showcase the best of Central Coast terroir.
