Alberto Loi

Alberto Loi Winery was founded in the late 1940s by Alberto Loi, and today, his children carry on the family tradition as the third generation dedicated to producing Cannonau wine. The estate is located in Ogliastra, a prime Cannonau terroir in east-central Sardinia, stretching from the Gennargentu mountains to the sea, near Cardedu and Jerzu. Spanning about fifty hectares, the vineyard is divided into three main "crus." The largest, Sa Mola, lies to the north; Cardedu is at the foot of the hills; and Delle Riserve, the most prized, sits on the hills' mid to upper slopes, producing the estate's finest wines.

Sardinia

Sardinia, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, is renowned for its unique and high-quality wines, shaped by its diverse climates and ancient winemaking traditions. The region benefits from a mix of coastal and inland climates, with varied soils contributing to the distinctive character of its wines. It is particularly famous for its red wines made from the Cannonau grape, known locally as Grenache, which produces rich, full-bodied reds with deep berry flavours and a hint of spice. It also excels in whites from Vermentino, offering crisp, aromatic wines with notes of citrus, herbs, and a touch of minerality. With its combination of indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking methods, Sardinia provides a captivating and varied wine experience.
