Description

"The 2021 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso is a very beautiful wine, but also quite a departure from the style that made it famous years ago. harvestwill find a particularly polished Guado al Tasso, a wine that emphasises finesse rather than power. Silky tannins envelop a core of black cherry fruit, liquorice, spices, mocha and new leather. Bright, savoury undertones extend the exquisite finish. There's more Cabernet Franc in the blend these days, which is reflected in the wine's crazy aromatic presence and feel. Beautiful." VINOUS 98 Points

In the 1930s the Tenuta Belvedere estate (later renamed Guado al Tasso) was inherited by Carlotta della Gherardesca Antinori, the mother of Piero Antinori. It is located in the world-famous Bolgheri area (home of many “Supertuscans”) where 300 hectares of vineyards are cultivated, mainly with French red varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot). After the collaboration with Sassicaia ended in 1989, Piero Antinori released the first vintage of Guado al Tasso in 1990: it is now the flagship wine of the estate and one of the most sought after in the area.

Antinori

The Antinori wine group, a legendary name in Italian winemaking, is celebrated for its exceptional wines and centuries-long heritage. Founded in 1385, the Antinori family has been producing wine for over 26 generations, combining traditional practices with innovative techniques. Their vast portfolio includes iconic wines such as Tignanello and Solaia, produced in the heart of Tuscany, as well as estates across Italy and beyond.

Tuscany

Tuscany, one of Italy's most renowned wine regions, is celebrated for its exceptional and diverse wines. Known for its picturesque landscapes and ideal climate, it benefits from a range of terroirs, from rolling hills to coastal areas. The area is particularly famous for its red wines, notably Chianti, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, which offer bright acidity, cherry flavours, and earthy undertones. It also produces prestigious wines such as Brunello di Montalcino, a full-bodied red with complex flavours and excellent ageing potential, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. For whites, Vernaccia di San Gimignano is noted for its crisp, refreshing character. Tuscany blends traditional winemaking with innovative techniques, offering a rich and varied wine experience.
