Description

Welcome to the new wave of Spanish wine - Can Leandro represents an ambitious approach to making wine, taking inspiration from the past to craft wines for contemporary tastes. The Bonicaire and Monastrell, Gobelet-trained, vines are cultivated in the Lloma Rasa vineyard at 500-550 metres altitude. Fresh, perfumed aromas of red fruit with lightly floral notes. Spicy, bright and slightly wild with touches of herbs like rosemary, and black olives in the background, alongside juicy cherry fruit and florality. The palate is bright and elegant with red berry and forest fruit characters, gentle but persistent sandy tannins and juicy acidity.

With its bright acidity and fine tannins this would make a perfect match with cured meats, or something made with really good roasted tomatoes.

Can Leandro

Can’ Leandro was founded at the start of 2013 by Gabriel and Alberto Sanchis Mestre, transforming their family wine business to one focused on bottling their own wines from the local, traditional varieties. Situated near Ontinyent – a town mid-way between Valencia and Murcia, and 50km from the coast - they craft authentic wines with a modern profile from old Monastrell, Merseguera and Bonicaire vineyards that they have rejuvenated.

Valencia

Valencia, located on Spain's eastern coast, is a prominent wine region known for its diverse wine offerings and favourable Mediterranean climate. It enjoys warm, sunny weather with mild winters, creating ideal conditions for viticulture.
It is particularly celebrated for its robust reds made from local varieties such as Monastrell and Tempranillo, which offer rich fruit flavours, depth, and well-structured profiles. The area also produces notable whites from varieties like Merseguera and Verdejo, known for their freshness, citrus notes, and balanced acidity.
