Description

'Les Ormeaux' offers a fresh and linear take on Castillon, with the sleek minerality of its limestone terroir shining through. Lively notes of black raspberry and red plum are delicately balanced with cedar and wintergreen, while a medium body and stony texture lead to a persistent finish, ending with a peppery kick. This unique claret is a superb match for spiced lamb, game, or hearty vegetable dishes.

Clos Puy Arnaud, under the stewardship of Thierry Valette, brings a biodynamic approach to winemaking in the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux. Nestled on the Saint-Émilion ridge, the estate's limestone-rich soils give its wines a distinctive freshness. The 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc blend is crafted with care, using natural fermentation and aged in cement vats and barrels to maintain the purity of the terroir, delivering an expressive and natural wine.

Clos Puy Arnaud

Alexandre Valette, Thierry’s great-grandfather, developed “Les Établissements Valette” during the first half of the 20th century. This company created in 1870 farms vines in Rochecorbon-Vouvray while being a grower/merchant for Fine Wines in the Paris suburb in Saint-Ouen.
From 1937, Alexandre invested in wine estates in Languedoc and in Bordeaux (acquisition of Château Troplong Mondot and Pavie). Thierry was a co-shareholder for the Pavie branch from 1979 to 1998 under the direction of his cousin, Jean-Paul Valette, who managed the Cru while playing a leading role as ambassador of Saint-Emilion’s 1st Crus abroad. Thierry worked as co-owner alongside his grandmother, Violette Valette, before purchasing Clos Puy Arnaud in 2000, 2 years after Château Pavie’s cession.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is located in southwestern France and is celebrated for its exceptional wines. It benefits from a temperate maritime climate, influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. It is particularly renowned for its red wines, primarily blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, offering rich, complex flavours and excellent ageing potential. Notable sub-regions include Médoc, Saint-Émilion, and Pomerol. Bordeaux also produces exquisite white wines, both dry, from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and sweet, from the Sauternes and Barsac areas. The region's unique terroir, combined with centuries-old winemaking traditions, results in wines of unparalleled quality and distinction. Bordeaux remains a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking world-class wines and a rich viticultural heritage.
