Domaine Parent is one of Pommard's most quietly compelling estates, long recognised by those in the know as a benchmark for purity and precision. Founded in 1803 and now in its 13th generation, the domaine is run by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent - the first women to lead the estate in its history.
Based in the heart of Pommard, the domaine comprises around 10 hectares, with holdings centred on the village and its leading Premier Cru sites. Under Anne Parent's direction, the estate has undergone a profound evolution in both vineyard and philosophy. A pioneering figure in Burgundy, she founded the Femmes et Vins de Bourgogne association and played a key role in advancing the recognition of climats such as Epenots.
Viticulture is now fully organic, with a long-term transition to biodynamics completed after more than a decade of careful implementation. As Parent herself notes, this is not a question of trend but of stewardship - protecting soil health, expressing terroir with clarity, and ensuring longevity for future generations.
"Bought grapes – 20-year-old vines – but the team here do all the vineyard work.Good power, a small mineral rigour in these aromas but the exposure to air brings more interesting energy too. The mineral rigour is modestly noticeable in the flavours too today but the width and melting, juicy flavour in this finish are really delicious!"
