Description

Domaine Parent is one of Pommard's most quietly compelling estates, long recognised by those in the know as a benchmark for purity and precision. Founded in 1803 and now in its 13th generation, the domaine is run by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent - the first women to lead the estate in its history.

Based in the heart of Pommard, the domaine comprises around 10 hectares, with holdings centred on the village and its leading Premier Cru sites. Under Anne Parent's direction, the estate has undergone a profound evolution in both vineyard and philosophy. A pioneering figure in Burgundy, she founded the Femmes et Vins de Bourgogne association and played a key role in advancing the recognition of climats such as Epenots.

Viticulture is now fully organic, with a long-term transition to biodynamics completed after more than a decade of careful implementation. As Parent herself notes, this is not a question of trend but of stewardship - protecting soil health, expressing terroir with clarity, and ensuring longevity for future generations.

"Deep soil with brown clay, marls with dolomite limestone, not too compact. Opposite Grands Epenots. 600-litre barrels and just a hint of wc used in this case.Broad aromas – showing a hint of volatility today but this changes to a very fine perfume – that’s lovely. Clean, beautifully shaped, juicy wine. Very complex in the finish. Potentially a super villages."
Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report (January 2024)

"The 2022 Pommard La Croix Blanche includes 10% whole bunches on the top of the vat. It has a delightful bouquet; those stems add a slight pepperiness. The 35% new oak is neatly integrated. The medium-bodied palate has pliant tannins and a little chewiness on the entry but decent weight with a pleasing sapidity on the finish. A bit rustic, but plenty of charm."
90-92 points.
Neal Martin, Vinous (January 2024)

Burgundy

Burgundy, located in eastern France, is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions, celebrated for its exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The region is divided into five main wine-producing areas: Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and Mâconnais. Burgundy’s complex terroir, characterised by diverse soils, microclimates, and slope orientations, plays a critical role in the distinctive characteristics of its wines. The region's classification system includes Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Village, and Regional appellations, reflecting the hierarchy of quality and location. Burgundy’s vineyards, many with centuries-old histories, produce wines that are revered for their elegance, depth, and expression of terroir. Key towns include Beaune, the region’s wine capital, and Dijon, known for its historical ties to the Dukes of Burgundy. Burgundy’s rich winemaking heritage, combined with its diverse range of wines, makes it a top destination for wine enthusiasts worldwide.
