Description

Prieto Picudo is a red grape from Castilla y León, Spain, known for its intense ruby colour and a marked nose of red flowers, wild fruits, toasted bread, and coffee. It offers a broad and polished taste on the palate, with delicate roasted flavours in the aftertaste. Aged for 12 months in oak and another 12 months in bottle before release, it has lovely maturity with notes of vanilla and spice. It’s a wine that pairs well with roasted meats, stews, botillo, sheep cheeses, or Iberian acorn ham.

Dominio de Tares

Since 2000, Bodegas Dominio de Tares has been extracting the essence of the Mencía, Godello and Prieto Picudo grape varieties in the Bierzo DO and the Castile and León VT. These areas of north-western Spain have a long tradition of winemaking that has been recovered today to produce unique wines of globally recognised quality. Dominio de Tares became the leader of El Bierzo’s wine resurgence by recovering the best old vineyards and pioneering the production of wines for laying down.

Castilla Y Leon

Castilla y León, located in north-central Spain, is a prominent wine region known for its rich history and diverse wine offerings. It benefits from a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters, which, along with varied soil types, creates ideal conditions for viticulture.
The area is especially renowned for its robust reds, particularly those made from Tempranillo and Garnacha, which produce complex wines with rich fruit flavours and notable aging potential. It is also known for its whites, including those from Verdejo and Godello, offering fresh, aromatic profiles with crisp acidity.
Historically, Castilla y León has been a significant wine-producing area since ancient times, with a rich heritage that includes the renowned Ribera del Duero and Rueda DOs.
