Winemaker Pierre Duffort’s reaction to the frivolous, fashionable ‘bling bling’ (as he describes them) roses of recent years, Cuvee Rebelle transports you back to a time when rose was made in a slow, traditional style.
A serious and full-bodied style of rose, Cuvee Rebelle has a lovely, expressive pretty nose of berries and almond blossom. The palate is broad, savoury, complex and elegantly vinous. Exceptional long finish.
Being more savoury in style it is definitely a wine for food. Try with a well-flavoured fish such as red mullet (perhaps accompanied by pistou, the Provencale basil-based sauce) or bouillabaisse, the fish stew of the region.
