Description

An impressive release that speaks volume of the pedigree of Tenuta San Guido’s wines. Guidalberto is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. A voluptuous nose charged with blackcurrant, black cherries, damson notes is rained in by mineral, almost balsamic hints of black olive, mint, tomato leaf and fresh black pepper. The exuberant nose of youth shouldn’t distract from the assertive and confident backbone that is clearly evident when the wine had time to open up in the glass. With every vintage Guidalberto is becoming more and more on its own, exhibiting all the purity and elegance typical of Sassicaia with a touch of vibrant irreverence.

Tenuta San Guido

Located in the Bolgheri area of Tuscany, Tenuta San Guido’s name derives from the Saint Guido della Gherardesca, an ancestor of Count Giuseppe della Gherardesca, who founded the estate. In 1940s the Count's son-in-law Mario, decided to produce a Bordeaux-style wine and began experimenting with French grape varieties, as opposed to the local Italian ones.
By 1968, the vineyard was orientated towards the exclusive use of Cabernet Sauvignon and the famous wine Sassicaia was born. Within a few years it achieved international acclaim as one of the best red wines in the world, and in 1994 was granted its own DOC, the only wine from a single estate in Italy to enjoy such a privilege.

Tuscany

It also produces prestigious wines such as Brunello di Montalcino, a full-bodied red with complex flavours and excellent ageing potential, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. For whites, Vernaccia di San Gimignano is noted for its crisp, refreshing character. Tuscany blends traditional winemaking with innovative techniques, offering a rich and varied wine experience.
