Vinho Verde is a well-known DOC in the Minho region of northwest Portugal. The quality of the wines made here are so fresh and light that they earn the moniker verde ('green'), which applies even to the red.

The wine is low in alcohol yet decidedly fresh, energetic and vibrant. Think pink grapefruit, gooseberry, lemon peel and blossom. Vinho Verde goes with salads, grilled fish and is incredible with fish tacos.

Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel

In 2020 Boekenhoutskloof ’s Marc, alongside Rita Marques, founded Companhia de Vinhos Invencível, acquiring an estate in the Douro and bringing traditional Portuguese grape varieties to the fore. They produce wines with vigor, passion and precision. The labels for the wine represent the fight between Adamastor, a mythical character symbolising the dangers of the sea, and the Portuguese sailors of the Age of Discovery.

The region is particularly famous for Vinho Verde, a light, crisp, and slightly effervescent white wine known for its vibrant acidity and fresh citrus flavours.
