Description

Cabernet Sauvignon blended with a small component of Merlot, this is deep red in colour, with a plush nose, round blackberry, elderberry and cassis fruits and toasty oak. The palate has a soft dark plum, cassis fruit character and fine grain tannins.

Balnaves

It was in the 1970s that farmer and part time shearer, Doug Balnaves was employed to develop 100 hectares of vines on the Coonawarra property in South Australia. Doug, with the aid of Bill Redman the “Grand Old Man of Coonawarra,” first made wine in an old cement vat after being transferred from the children’s swimming pool from the back of the ute. Since the planting of the first vines in 1975, the Balnaves vineyards have grown steadily. Winemaker Pete Bissell joined Balnaves of Coonawarra in 1996 and his winemaking won many awards until his retirement in 2020. After two years working under Pete Jacinta Jenkins (JJ) took over as Senior Winemaker.
