Description

This Cabernet Franc based Loire wine is crafted from fifteen different batches of old and young vines grown on the distinctive free-draining tuffeau soils of the Loire. Scents of wild flowers and thyme meld with sweet mulberry fruit to produce a flavoursome palate and a lingering finish. Deeply coloured yet with deft tannin, this is a soft sumptuous and thoroughly enjoyable wine.

From a serious basis of really ripe Cabernet Franc grapes, this is a really serious wine… But which doesn't take itself too seriously! Its delightful lack of pretention that will please one and all!

Try it lightly chilled with charcuterie, sausasges and hearty fish dishes.

Chateau du Hureau

The Vatan family can trace their family back in the Loire to 1798. The family have remained in the area with their vines and near the Tuffeau cave ever since. Georges and his sons, Philippe and Pascal, founded Château du Hureau in 1987. Despite losing Pascal in a car accident early in the project the father and son persevered winning awards for their wines. Today Philippe’s daughter Agathe joins him in running the estate.

Loire Valley

The Loire Valley in France is a prestigious wine region renowned for its diverse wines and picturesque landscapes. Stretching along the Loire River, it benefits from a varied climate and a range of soil types, ideal for viticulture. It is particularly famous for its white wines, including the crisp and mineral-rich Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, and the aromatic Chenin Blanc from Vouvray and Saumur. The area also produces excellent reds, such as the light and fruity Cabernet Franc from Chinon and Bourgueil. Rosé and sparkling wines, like Crémant de Loire, add to the diversity of the region. With its rich winemaking heritage, varied terroirs, and high-quality wines, the Loire Valley offers an exceptional experience for wine enthusiasts seeking both classic and innovative wines.
