Description

Made using the traditional method. This is the most recent sparkling made by Caves São João. This region is known for producing the best sparkling wine in Portugal but this dry red sparkling is a new venture that is proving very successful. It has a deep ruby colour, with intense notes of red and black fruits such as raspberries, blackcurrants and blueberries. On the palate it is fresh with creamy foam that makes this a serious sparkling red. The increase in popularity for this style of sparkling is increasing rapidly so make sure you have one in your range.

Caves São João

Joining together innovation and tradition, the Caves São João started in the 30s the creation of sparkling wines and in 1959 the production and commercialization, both nationally and internationally, of bottled still wines of great quality. Always inspired by the past, they planted in Quinta do Poço do Lobo, acquired in 1971, the varieties that allowed them to innovate but always keeping in mind the classic profile of their wines.

Beira Interior

Beira Interior, located in northeastern Portugal, is a distinctive and emerging wine region known for its unique and high-quality wines. It benefits from a continental climate with significant temperature variations between day and night, as well as diverse soils, which create ideal conditions for viticulture.
The area is particularly recognised for its robust reds made from indigenous grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Baga, and Rufete. These reds are noted for their deep colour, complex flavours of dark fruit, and well-structured tannins. It also produces intriguing whites, often from the Fonte Cal and Síria grapes, which offer crisp acidity, fresh citrus notes, and a touch of minerality.
