Description

Another great wine from Domaine Gayda. Based in Languedoc the estate has the advantage of working with a huge variety of soils and climatic zones that produce some of the most exciting wines in the world. This is a fresh clean cool-climate style of Chardonnay. 25% is fermented and aged for 6 months on its lees in new oak barrels the remainder in stainless steel.

The nose reveals cut lemon and clove with subtle herby notes. Although the palate shows plenty of stoney minerality it is relatively rich and full of soft citrus and tree fruits with a very long spicy finish. There is a lovely creamy feel to the wine a result of the judicious use of oak.

Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda was built in 1749 as a Staging Post for travellers where horses were refreshed and changed. Owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record joined forces with winemaker Vincent Chansault in 2004, creating the modern face of wine from the region. Domaine Gayda has a passion for the traditional ‘cépages’ grown across the many diverse soils and climates situated throughout the Languedoc. While the vineyards are firmly rooted in tradition and ‘terroirs’, the winery itself is all about the innovation.

Languedoc-Roussillon

Languedoc-Roussillon, situated in southern France, is renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. It benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with abundant sunshine, hot summers, and mild winters, ideal for viticulture. Languedoc-Roussillon produces a wide variety of wines, including robust reds from grape varieties like Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, as well as crisp, refreshing whites and rosés. The area is also known for its excellent sparkling wines, particularly Crémant de Limoux. The diverse terroir, ranging from coastal plains to mountainous areas, and a mix of traditional and innovative winemaking techniques result in wines with distinctive character and depth. Languedoc-Roussillon is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts seeking a rich and varied wine experience.
