This wine is a field blend of 39 year old vineyards from Quinta da Manoella estate with south-western exposure. Grapes were hand harvested, destemmed, and foot trodden for 12 hours in stone lagares, after which it was fermented in steel tanks for 8 days. Ageing in used French oak barrels for 16 months.
Jorge Serôdio Borges is the 5th generation of a long line of wine producers and winery owners. Therefore, in 2009 Sandra and Jorge acquired “Quinta da Manoella”, an estate with a history that dates back to 1838.
The Quinta da Manoella vineyards are over a hundred years old, bordered on both sides by young vineyards that are 30 years old, some even more recent. Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas was immediately recognized as one of the greatest wines of Douro.
Wine & Soul embodies the spirit of a new wave of top quality Douro Wines, sourced from very old vineyards, low yields, limited production showcase the character of each particular vineyard and the very special nature of each unique terroir. Wines crafted with minimum intervention, letting nature and terroir take the lead and speak for themselves.
