Description

The most elegant of the PerSe's wines, revealing earth, violets, wet chalk, and some spice. Complex in the mouth with a fine thread of acidity, distinctive minerality, massive length and persistence.

100 Parker Points, Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate

" I fell in love with the 2019 La Craie as soon as I put my nose in the glass, and the wine stood out like a sore thumb in a flight with the rest of the wines from Per Se. The nose is subtle, elegant, harmonious and ethereal despite the 14.5% alcohol. This comes from the south-facing slope, the cooler exposition in the southern hemisphere and is the co-fermentation of the field blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc; depending on the vintage, it can contain some 20% of Cabernet Franc, but they don't even know for sure because the different vintages yield differently depending on the grape. It's perfumed and floral, with the freshness of a forest, notes of graphite and an ethereal quality, not only on the nose but also on the palate, where it's only medium-bodied and has ultra-fine, elegant, fine-grained tannins. It fermented and matured in barrel for 16 months. 1,440 bottles were filled in November 2020."

PerSe

PerSe is the personal project of Edgardo (Edy) del Popolo and David Bonomi, pioneers in Argentine wine. David, an expert oenologist, has extensive experience across the Uco Valley, while Edy, who grew up in a vineyard-owning family, studied oenology and agronomy. After a successful career at Doña Paula, he and David founded PerSe in 2012. Their boutique venture focuses on crafting wines that transparently express their origins, choosing Gualtallary in the Uco Valley for its cool climate and complex soils. They’ve planted a vineyard at 1,500 metres, producing exceptional wines that balance quality and drinkability, even in their youth.

Mendoza

Mendoza, Argentina's most renowned wine region, is synonymous with exceptional winemaking and world-class wines. Nestled at the foothills of the Andes, Mendoza's high-altitude vineyards benefit from abundant sunshine, cool nights, and minimal rainfall, creating perfect conditions for grape cultivation. The area is particularly famous for its Malbec, offering rich, full-bodied wines with dark fruit flavours and a velvety texture. It also excels in producing excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Torrontés. The diverse terroir, with its variety of soils and microclimates, imparts a unique character to its wines. Mendoza remains a must-visit destination for wine lovers seeking outstanding and memorable wines.
