Created to celebrate Darroze’s 50th anniversary, this cuvée is a confident and beautifully balanced tribute to the house’s history and blending mastery. It brings together Armagnacs from key vintages: 1974 for structure and depth, with dried fruit and spice from long ageing; the hot years of 1982 and 1985 for richness and volume; 1994 for a fresher, more fruit-driven style; and 2002 and 2011 to add lift and vibrancy. Limited to just 1,974 carafes, the blend is built on Baco and Ugni Blanc in near equal measure, completed by Folle Blanche, and bottled at 48.5% ABV. Golden with mahogany highlights, it opens with expressive aromas of candied apricot, orange zest, vanilla, cinnamon and liquorice, followed by fig, almond and a touch of toasted bread. The palate is full-bodied yet poised, marrying youthful energy with mature complexity, unfolding layers of spice, leather and candied orange before an exceptionally long, elegant finish.
