Description

Characterful Riesling from the steeply sloping vineyards of the middle Nahe region. The vines grow in stony, weathered volcanic soils mainly composed of porphyry and melaphyr, with some slate and quartzite.

A dry Riesling, wonderfully fresh and well defined. Elegant with a tingling minerality. A delicious wine for everyday drinking with moderate alcohol and very soothing acidity.

Smoky and stony, with clean scents of green apple and citrus. Evolving floral notes, marked with lemon balm and a lively acidity. Lithe and refreshing. Drink to 20239."

"Just bottled with 11% stated alcohol, Dönnhoff's 2024 Riesling trocken VDP.Gutswein opens with a remarkably intense and aromatic yellow stone fruit aroma intermingled with complex and saline terroir notes of the middle Nahe. Fresh and savory on the palate, this is a light- to medium-bodied, straight, pure and fresh dry Riesling with remarkable intensity and sustainability on the finish and a saline and savory aftertaste. This is not as light and charming as the off-dry twin but more serious in its terroir expression. It needs some weeks or months to calm down a bit. Tasted in April 2024. Drink to 2032."
