Deep ruby red, aromas and flavours of sour cherry, cherry marmalade, notes of mocha and sweets spices, well-structured with balanced acidity, velvet tannins and a long finish. Red meat, dishes with dried mushrooms, rich aged cheeses.

Monemvasia

Monemvasia Winery was founded in 1997 in Monemvasia, in the Greek region of Laconia by Yorgos and Elli Tsimbidi. Drawing inspiration from the myth of the long-lost Malvasia wine, and driven by their love for their homeland, they started the winery from scratch. They were dedicated to reviving the medieval Malvasia wine as well as local grape varieties and the traditional ways of vinification. Through this process they experimented with rare varieties taking Monemvasia, Kydonitsa, Asproudi and Mavroudi out of obscurity. The team, headed by George and Elli, was joined by Marialena and Anastasia bringing an appetite for experimentation, highlighting the region and goals for eco friendly practices and actions in the local society.

Southern Greece

Southern Greece, encompassing regions such as the Peloponnese and Crete, is renowned for its rich winemaking heritage and diverse wines. Benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with hot, sunny summers and mild winters, along with varied soils, it is ideal for viticulture. The Peloponnese is known for its robust reds, particularly from the Agiorgitiko grape, which offers rich, fruity flavours and velvety tannins, and Mavrodaphne, known for its rich, sweet reds. Crete, with its ancient winemaking traditions, excels in producing aromatic whites from the indigenous Vilana and robust reds from Liatiko. It also produces unique dessert wines, such as the sweet Muscat of Samos. Southern Greece combines traditional winemaking techniques with diverse grape varieties, offering a captivating wine experience with distinct and high-quality Greek wines.
