Description

On the palate, Bembibre is balanced and intense, full-bodied with a charred oak character. A dry start, velvety alcohol and acidity, very rounded tannins and commanding flavours of ripe wild berries, prune and toasted bread.

Made from very old vines at growing at 650m above sea level. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, yielding a blackish, purplish liquid. On the nose it is sweet and rich and brambly. In the mouth the tesure is rich and round, perhaps putting one in mind of a good Pomerol with Bierzo's 'minerality' shining out of this fine Mencía, which clearly has been carefully selected from a good vineyard.
