Description

A powerful yet refined Claret that captures the character of its appellation with poise. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry and cassis layered with cedar, graphite and a hint of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with firm but ripe tannins supporting concentrated dark fruit, touches of liquorice and savoury spice. There is impressive freshness and balance, with the vibrant acidity carrying the flavours through to a long, elegant finish, suggesting excellent ageing potential.

Chateau Phelan-Segur

Located in the eastern part of Saint-Estèphe, Château Phélan Ségur lies on well-drained gravel alluvial soils. It covers 70 hectares of high-density plantings, producing textbook Saint-Estèphe wines, meaty and solid and best consumed after 5-7 years in bottle.

The Médoc, characterised by the mild temperate maritime climate, offers ideal conditions of a seasonal cycle that is sufficiently marked to accompany the annual growth of the vine and mild enough to attenuate climatic excesses. The vines at Château Phélan Ségur are close to the estuary: this situation protects them from hard winters and summers that are sometimes very hot.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is located in southwestern France and is celebrated for its exceptional wines. It benefits from a temperate maritime climate, influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. It is particularly renowned for its red wines, primarily blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, offering rich, complex flavours and excellent ageing potential. Notable sub-regions include Médoc, Saint-Émilion, and Pomerol. Bordeaux also produces exquisite white wines, both dry, from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and sweet, from the Sauternes and Barsac areas. The region's unique terroir, combined with centuries-old winemaking traditions, results in wines of unparalleled quality and distinction. Bordeaux remains a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking world-class wines and a rich viticultural heritage.
