Lady of Sunshine

Gina Giugni grew up on her family's biodynamic farm in Northern California's Sierra Foothills, where she developed a deep connection to the land. After studying winemaking at Cal Poly, she gained experience with biodynamic winemakers in Beaujolais, Central Otago, Oregon, and Napa. In Napa, she observed meticulous grape farming followed by overripe harvesting and excessive manipulation in winemaking, which led her to pursue her own approach. Gina settled in San Luis Obispo, farming the Chene Vineyard biodynamically. She focuses on organic practices, minimal intervention, and capturing the purity of the land. Gina believes in picking grapes for natural acidity and flavour development, aiming to create fresh, vibrant wines that truly express their terroir. She reflects, "It wasn’t until I started farming that I truly connected with the joy of winemaking—immersing myself in every aspect of the vineyard made me understand how wine speaks of place. Becoming a true vigneron has been my greatest passion."

Central Coast

The Central Coast of California is a prominent and diverse wine region known for its varied climates and exceptional wine production. Stretching from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, the region benefits from a Mediterranean climate with cool maritime influences, which contribute to its distinctive wine styles. The Central Coast is renowned for its high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, particularly from the cooler areas of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. These wines are celebrated for their vibrant acidity, complex flavours, and elegant profiles. The region also excels in producing robust reds like Syrah and Zinfandel, as well as expressive whites from varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.
