Description

"Château de la Chaize in Beaujolais is a very strong candidate for the most beautiful wine Château in France."
James Suckling

A beautiful ruby hue with purple highlights. The nose is open with nuances of blackcurrant and red berries. The aromatic ensemble is underlined by the peppery note that the Gamay reveals, as well as the graphite dimension of the terroir. The palate is frank, sitting on a texture of half-power. The wine is sapid, defined by a good balance between power and acidity. The terroir of La Chapelle des Bois is recognisable by its usual tenderness and roundness.

This single vineyard cuvée comes from one hectare of vines, averaging 40 years old, located in the village of Fleurie, in the cadastral area 'La Chapelle des Bois' and exposed to the southwest.

The soil is made up of coarse sands with some granite pebbles.
100% destemmed Gamay. The maceration of 17 days took place in a stainless-steel tank. Pumping over and racking took place, but no punching down. Maturated for 7 months in an oak vat.

"This is a standout Fleurie. Delicate, floral aromas waft from the glass along with hibiscus, red raspberry, Darjeeling tea, pomegranate and dried cherry. A silky palate frames well-integrated fruit and entices the senses with subtle moments of savoriness that emerge on the finish."
93 points.
Reggie Solomon, Wine Enthusiast (January 2024)

"This beautiful Fleurie has stacks of black raspberry fruit, but is anything other than loud. It gracefully tiptoes over your palate. Barely medium-bodied, but such a wonderful elegance right through the very long, filigreed finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
95 points.
