Description

Tattarrattat is a wine that bursts with freshness and fizz. It has a vibrant ruby colour and a juicy flavor of ripe red fruits, sour cherries, and crisp apples. It is made from organic grapes that are fermented naturally and bottled without any sulfites. It is also vegan-friendly.

This wine is not your typical Bordeaux. It is made with a technique called carbonic maceration, which is more common in the Beaujolais region. This technique involves putting whole bunches of grapes in a sealed tank filled with carbon dioxide. The grapes start to ferment inside their skins, creating a wine that is fruity, light, and low in tannins. Tattarrattat is made from Merlot grapes grown in a single plot called “Terrasses Bas”, which has clay and limestone soil.

At Chateau Picoron, they are passionate about Merlot. They have 4.5 hectares of vineyards around the chateau, and each wine is made from a single plot of grapes. They want to show the true expression of the terroir and the diversity of Merlot. Tattarrattat is one of their most playful and unconventional wines. No sulfites added.

Chateau Picoron

The estate is named after the Picoron family that continued winemaking from 1570. Since 2015, the winery celebrates the future of Bordeaux with its new Australian owners Glenda and Frank Kalyk. They explore the potential of the great grape of Merlot, with the contraints of the Bordeaux region, its varietals and the changing climate, being the very catalyst for their creation. Each wine is produced from single plot grapes, with vineyards grown on famous St Emillion clay and limestone ridge.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is located in southwestern France and is celebrated for its exceptional wines. It benefits from a temperate maritime climate, influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. It is particularly renowned for its red wines, primarily blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, offering rich, complex flavours and excellent ageing potential. Notable sub-regions include Médoc, Saint-Émilion, and Pomerol. Bordeaux also produces exquisite white wines, both dry, from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and sweet, from the Sauternes and Barsac areas. The region's unique terroir, combined with centuries-old winemaking traditions, results in wines of unparalleled quality and distinction. Bordeaux remains a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking world-class wines and a rich viticultural heritage.
