Description

A sumptuous half bottle from one of Sauternes' most consistent estates, Suduiraut 2022 captures the richness of a hot, sunny vintage while keeping impressive balance. Based largely on Sémillon with a little Sauvignon Blanc for lift, it shows a luminous golden colour and a generous nose of ripe apricot, peach, mango and candied lemon, with notes of honeysuckle, vanilla and a touch of spice. The palate is opulent and silky, layering honeyed stone fruit, pineapple and marmalade over a creamy texture, while fresh citrus acidity and a subtle bitter orange edge keep everything lively. The finish is long, pure and gently spiced. Approachable young thanks to its exuberant fruit, it will also reward patient cellaring for many years. Try it with blue cheese, foie gras or a fruit-based dessert such as apricot tart, with the 37.5cl format making it just right for two to four people.

Chateau Suduiraut

Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the great historic vineyards of Sauternes. The estate took the name of Suduiraut in 1580 upon the marriage of Nicole d'Allard to Léonard de Suduiraut. The estate comprises 91 hectares of vines, on gravelly, sandy clay soil. The stones capture the sun's heat, thereby helping the grapes to reach maturity more rapidly. It is this unique terroir that gives the wine its outstanding opulence.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is located in southwestern France and is celebrated for its exceptional wines. It benefits from a temperate maritime climate, influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. It is particularly renowned for its red wines, primarily blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, offering rich, complex flavours and excellent ageing potential. Notable sub-regions include Médoc, Saint-Émilion, and Pomerol. Bordeaux also produces exquisite white wines, both dry, from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and sweet, from the Sauternes and Barsac areas. The region's unique terroir, combined with centuries-old winemaking traditions, results in wines of unparalleled quality and distinction. Bordeaux remains a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking world-class wines and a rich viticultural heritage.
