Description

These 40-year-old vines, facing due east, flourish freshly between 303 and 340 meters above sea level, on a hill opposite the Saint-Romain valley. The strong presence of limestone, as its name indicates, is the great characteristic of this climate. The minerality makes up the matrix of this invigorating white wine which, when you close your eyes, reminds us of the fragrances of a torrent or undergrowth after the rain. Its freshness, its elegance, its aromas of white flowers and damp stone seduce from its early youth. Let five to seven years pass and this Saint-Romain will offer you delicious aromas of grilled almonds and flint.

Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson

Perched in the picturesque village of Saint-Romain, Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson is a family estate with a remarkable lineage dating back to the 12th century. Founded as an independent winery in 1947 by Henri Buisson, the domaine has long been at the forefront of sustainable viticulture, embracing organic methods by 2009 and full biodynamic certification by 2018. Today, brothers Franck and Frédérick Buisson carry the torch, nurturing around 20 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines across some of Burgundy’s most expressive climats. Their hands-off approach in the cellar—often crafting cuvées without added sulphur—highlights the purity, balance, and striking sense of place that define their wines. With a deep respect for tradition and an eye firmly on the future, the Buisson family continues to champion a thoughtful, terroir-driven vision of Burgundy.

Burgundy

Burgundy, located in eastern France, is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions, celebrated for its exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The region is divided into five main wine-producing areas: Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and Mâconnais. Burgundy’s complex terroir, characterised by diverse soils, microclimates, and slope orientations, plays a critical role in the distinctive characteristics of its wines. The region's classification system includes Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Village, and Regional appellations, reflecting the hierarchy of quality and location. Burgundy’s vineyards, many with centuries-old histories, produce wines that are revered for their elegance, depth, and expression of terroir. Key towns include Beaune, the region’s wine capital, and Dijon, known for its historical ties to the Dukes of Burgundy. Burgundy’s rich winemaking heritage, combined with its diverse range of wines, makes it a top destination for wine enthusiasts worldwide.
