Description

Dominio de Tares is situated in Bierzo, one of the most talked-about wine regions of Spain. Baltos is made from 100% old-vine Mencia with very low yields, aged in American and French oak for 6 months.  It is an elegant and individualistic wine with a nose of earth, clove minerals and red and black cherry. The palate is beautifully textured, smooth, fresh, spicy and medium-bodied with a long, rounded finish. Baltos seems to find favour with fans of the Pinot Noir grape, expect all the flavour encased in a more dense wine.

Dominio de Tares

Since 2000, Bodegas Dominio de Tares has been extracting the essence of the Mencía, Godello and Prieto Picudo grape varieties in the Bierzo DO and the Castile and León VT. These areas of north-western Spain have a long tradition of winemaking that has been recovered today to produce unique wines of globally recognised quality. Dominio de Tares became the leader of El Bierzo’s wine resurgence by recovering the best old vineyards and pioneering the production of wines for laying down.

Galicia

Galicia, located in the northwest of Spain, is renowned for its distinctive and high-quality wines, benefiting from a unique climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. The region's cool, wet conditions and lush landscapes create an ideal environment for viticulture.
It is particularly famous for its exceptional white wines, notably from the Albariño grape, which produces crisp, aromatic wines with vibrant acidity and notes of citrus and stone fruit. The area also produces high-quality reds from varieties such as Mencía, known for its fresh, fruity character and subtle tannins.
Historically, Galicia’s winemaking tradition dates back to Roman times, but the region began to gain wider recognition in the late 20th century.
