Hopler

The Höpler family has been making wine since the 1860’s and it was Jost Höpler in the 1980’s who founded the business as we know it today. Chrisof Höpler is the current owner and wine maker. He took over from his father Jost in 2007 and continues the family tradition – sensitively farming 50 hectares of vines.  His stewardship ensures a balance combining up to date viticultural practices with proven methods of the past.

Burgenland

Burgenland, a prominent wine region in eastern Austria, is renowned for its diverse and high-quality wines. Historically, Burgenland was part of Hungary until 1921, and its winemaking traditions reflect a blend of Austrian and Hungarian influences. The region's climate, with hot summers and the moderating influence of Lake Neusiedl, is ideal for both red and white grape varieties.

Burgenland is particularly famous for its red wines, with Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt being the standout grapes, producing full-bodied, spicy wines. It also excels in white wines, with Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling being notable varieties. Additionally, it is celebrated for its dessert wines, especially the world-class Trockenbeerenauslese made from botrytised grapes near Lake Neusiedl. This rich diversity, coupled with a deep-rooted winemaking heritage, has firmly established Burgenland as one of Austria's premier wine regions.
