Description

It has a lively ruby red colour with a fruity nose that expresses character, freshness and terroir, and is laden with aromas of cherry and violet with hints of a light spiciness. The palate is savoury and medium bodied with good aromatic persistence. Hints of wild berries combine well with oaky notes.

An exceptional match for all meats and pastas.

This wine was born along with the winery, and has grown with it over the years, becoming the ambassador that represents it around the world. As such, it deserves more space than can be allocated to it in this brief description.

The history of Rocca delle Macie is, doubly intertwined with this Chianti Classico, which has evolved over the years both through the changes imposed upon it by updates to the regulations and through the enhancements made in the vineyards thanks to replanting operations, soil analysis and the clonal selection of Sangiovese.

The grapes for the Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico are selected and picked by hand. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in Slavonian or French oak barrels for a period of 6 to 10 months and aged further in bottle for about one month.

"A juicy and fruity red with cherries, dark berries and hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied with round tannins and a delicious finish. Drink now and enjoy."92 points. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com (May 2024)

Rocca delle Macie

The history and philosophy of Rocca delle Macìe are inextricably linked to the union and importance of the Zingarelli family. Their dedication and passion, for the land and for wine have been handed down from father to son and continue to be nurtured for the next generations. Rocca believe a wine should not only be ‘good to drink’ but also ‘good to think’ and therefore talk about.

Tuscany

Tuscany, one of Italy's most renowned wine regions, is celebrated for its exceptional and diverse wines. Known for its picturesque landscapes and ideal climate, it benefits from a range of terroirs, from rolling hills to coastal areas. The area is particularly famous for its red wines, notably Chianti, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, which offer bright acidity, cherry flavours, and earthy undertones. It also produces prestigious wines such as Brunello di Montalcino, a full-bodied red with complex flavours and excellent ageing potential, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. For whites, Vernaccia di San Gimignano is noted for its crisp, refreshing character. Tuscany blends traditional winemaking with innovative techniques, offering a rich and varied wine experience.
