The Vin Santo is made from Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes. The well-ripened grapes are partially dried out and the must is transferred to typical 200 litre casks for at least three years. Vin Santo (or Vino Santo) is a viscous, typically sweet dessert wine made in Italy, predominantly in Tuscany. The wine is loved for its intense flavours of hazelnut and caramel. When paired with biscotti, Vin Santo becomes “Cantucci e Vin Santo” which is inarguably Italy’s most famous welcoming tradition.
The wine is intense golden yellow with an intense nose with dried fruit and honey aromas. The palate is rich and round with a very good structure. This great dessert wine is very pleasant by itself at the end of a meal but traditionally it combines very well with dry biscuits like tuscan Cantucci.
