The ‘Perle des Bénédictins’ is crafted from 100% Chardonnay, which is fermented traditionally in stainless steel tanks and aged on its lees. It offers a nutty and herbal-edged stone fruit character alongside a creamy texture and gentle effervescence.
Founded in 1982 in the heart of Anjou-Saumur in the Loire Valley, Domaine des Bénédictins is now run by fourth-generation Ludovic Thermeau, who has steered his family’s estate towards quality-first winemaking. Since taking over in 2005, Ludovic has extended the area under vine, while increasing biodiversity and applying an organic approach to farming.
Ludovic now tends 48ha of local varieties Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, and Grolleau, as well as a little Chardonnay, across an array of clay-limestone and schist terroirs.
