Description

a vibrant expression of Sangiovese from the Maremma region. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged for 30 months in oak barrels, followed by at least six months in the bottle, this wine is produced without chemical interventions, reflecting a natural winemaking philosophy. In the glass, it presents a dense ruby red colour. The nose offers aromas of red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and a marine touch, with hints of flowers and spices like pepper. On the palate, it is fresh and structured, with lively tannins and a characteristic rusticity that reveals remarkable depth and complexity. The wine's balance and authenticity make it a true representation of the wild and noble essence of the Maremma. This Sangiovese pairs well with rich meat dishes, such as mixed grills, and has excellent aging potential, promising further evolution over time.

Massa Vecchia

Founded in 1985 by Fabrizio Niccolaini, the estate is now managed by Francesca Sfondrini, who continues the tradition of crafting wines with minimal intervention and a deep respect for nature.
The estate spans about 6 hectares, nestled near the medieval town of Massa Marittima, in the Maremma region. The vineyards are planted with a diverse mix of grape varieties, including Sangiovese, Vermentino, Malvasia Nera, and Alicante, as well as lesser-known local varietals. The soils, rich in minerals and influenced by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, contribute to the distinctive character and minerality found in Massa Vecchia’s wines.

Tuscany

Tuscany, one of Italy's most renowned wine regions, is celebrated for its exceptional and diverse wines. Known for its picturesque landscapes and ideal climate, it benefits from a range of terroirs, from rolling hills to coastal areas. The area is particularly famous for its red wines, notably Chianti, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, which offer bright acidity, cherry flavours, and earthy undertones. It also produces prestigious wines such as Brunello di Montalcino, a full-bodied red with complex flavours and excellent ageing potential, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. For whites, Vernaccia di San Gimignano is noted for its crisp, refreshing character. Tuscany blends traditional winemaking with innovative techniques, offering a rich and varied wine experience.
