Description

Cognac Domingos Soares Franco, winemaker and vice-president is the youngest of the two representatives of the sixth generation of the family that manages Jose Maria da Fonseca. As both vice-president and senior winemaker of the company, Domingos has become a prominent figure in the field of Portuguese winemaking and viticulture. Although all Jose Maria da Fonseca’s wines are of his making, some are particularly special to him. Continuing with the enthusiasm and passion which Domingos Soares Franco has developed his winemaking experiences, we present you the Private Collection Domingos Soares Franco Moscatel de Setúbal.

This Moscatel was fortified with Cognac, which makes this wine unique in terms of complexity and structure.

On the nose, you find lush apricots mingling with yellow plum and a refreshing orange peel acidity. On the palate, roasted hazelnuts and citrus burst from the wine, dancing on your tongue, with an endless finish.

José Maria Da Fonseca

Owned and managed by the same family for nearly 200 years, José Maria da Fonseca is one of Portugal’s oldest producers of table wines and Setúbal Moscatel. Combining centuries of experience with state-of-the-art winemaking technology, the winery blends tradition with innovation. Above all, it is the passion and commitment to the art of winemaking that truly define José Maria da Fonseca’s exceptional wines.

Peninsula de Setubal

The Peninsula de Setúbal, located southwest of Lisbon along Portugal’s Atlantic coast, is renowned for its distinctive and high-quality wines. It benefits from a Mediterranean climate with cooling maritime influences, which contribute to its unique terroir.
The area is particularly famous for its fortified wines, especially Muscat of Setúbal, made from the Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grape. This wine is known for its rich, honeyed sweetness, complex aromas of dried fruits and nuts, and a smooth, luscious texture. It also produces notable reds from varieties like Castelão and Trincadeira, offering full-bodied wines with rich fruit flavours and balanced tannins.
