Description

Viosinho is an aromatic indigenous grape variety that is traditionally grown in the Douro. The slightly cooler climate in this part of Alentejo means that the acidity is still present but totally balanced with the fruit that this grape offers. The wine has a complex floral aroma with intense notes of granny smith apples, passion fruit & pineapple that are typical of Viosinho but also indicative of the region's defined style. On the palate the texture is wonderfully surprising, with a beautiful mouthfeel that is more present than originally expected from its fresh aromas. All well supported by the structure & acidity of this fantastic mono-varietal microclimate white.

A very well-balanced wine that can match up many foods, but goes particularly well with paella (or seafood rice in Portugal), lentil soup crab cakes.

Casa Clara

Casa Clara is a 3rd generation family project and their wines are created 100% from the grapes of their two properties located in the heart of Alentejo: the Herdade da Capela, on the left bank of the Guadiana, in the Moura sub-region, and Quinta de D. Maria in the Serra do Mendro, near the Alqueva, in the sub-region of Vidigueira.

The name of the company is a tribute to Mariana’s mother, Clara Roque do Vale, who have always be linked to the world of wines, having been distinguished in 2020 with the award "The Best of the Year" (together with Jancis Robinson MW) of Revista de Vinhos who highlighted her as a "pioneer, booster and profound militant of the development of Alentejo as a region producing wines of international quality".
