Description

Retromarcia is a Chianti Classico made from Sangiovese grapes (100%). A large proportion of the grapes come from vineyards composed of shale, limestone and Pietraforte and have an average age of 10 years. Vinification and maturation are reminiscent of a more traditional style of Chianti Classico; fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete containers, with skin maceration for up to 45 days, followed by natural malolactic fermentation and maturation in barriques, tonneaux and second- and third-year barrels. The result is a fresh and fruity, medium-bodied, well-balanced wine with a nice structure, juicy acidity and long persistence.

Monte Bernardi

Monte Bernardi’s history dates back to the 11th century. The first estate-bottled wines appeared in 1992. In 2003, the Schmelzer family revitalized the vineyards, winery, and villa. In 2017, Sara and Henry Bedford joined Michael Schmelzer, acquiring the Sala farm in Panzano, adding 10 hectares of vineyards and 5 hectares of olive groves. Today, Monte Bernardi spans over 70 hectares, including 22 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, renowned for its passion and quality.

Tuscany

Tuscany, one of Italy's most renowned wine regions, is celebrated for its exceptional and diverse wines. Known for its picturesque landscapes and ideal climate, it benefits from a range of terroirs, from rolling hills to coastal areas. The area is particularly famous for its red wines, notably Chianti, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, which offer bright acidity, cherry flavours, and earthy undertones. It also produces prestigious wines such as Brunello di Montalcino, a full-bodied red with complex flavours and excellent ageing potential, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. For whites, Vernaccia di San Gimignano is noted for its crisp, refreshing character. Tuscany blends traditional winemaking with innovative techniques, offering a rich and varied wine experience.
